How to Plan a Bachelorette Party on a Boat in St. Pete
A day on a private boat is one of the easiest bachelorette parties to pull off in St. Pete. Everyone's together, the music's going, the water's warm, and nobody has to drive. Here's how to plan it, which boat to pick, and what to bring so the bride has a day she'll talk about for years.
1. Pick your boat
Most bachelorette groups land on one of these:
Avalon Funship: our most popular party boat. A double-decker pontoon with a water slide off the top deck, and a water mat included. 4 hours from Madeira Beach with a captain, up to 10 guests, $800, which works out to about $80 a person for a group of 10.
John's Pass Sandbar Boat: a private captained pontoon to the sandbars, up to 10 guests, $595 for 4 hours. Leaves from Madeira Beach or Gulfport. Add the Sandbar Party Package (water mat plus a cooler with ice) for $70.
Bigger group? Our World Cat and Sea Ray hold up to 12 with a captain.
You can see the options side by side on our Party Boat & Bachelorette page.
2. Get a captain
It's tempting to save money and drive yourselves, but with a captain the maid of honor isn't stuck at the wheel all day. Your captain knows the sandbars, the tides and the busy channel at John's Pass, handles anchoring, and takes the group photos. Everyone, including the bride, gets to relax.
3. Book early
Weekends in spring and summer fill up fast, especially Saturdays. Lock in your date as soon as you know it. A $100 deposit plus tax and card fee ($111 total) holds the boat, and the balance is paid at check-in.
Saving tip: weekday trips are easier to get, and cheaper. Book a captained trip Monday to Thursday and take $50 off with code WEEKDAY50.
4. Plan the day
Morning departures usually mean calmer water and an easier time finding a good spot at the sandbar.
Afternoon trips are great if the bride wants to sleep in after a big night out.
Ending near sunset? Ask us about timing your trip so you catch the sun going down on the ride back.
5. What to bring
Sunscreen, hats and sunglasses (there's not much shade on a sandbar)
A cooler with drinks and snacks. BYOB is welcome, and we can provide a cooler with ice if you add it when you book
Decorations: banners, balloons and sashes are welcome, just make sure nothing can blow into the water
Matching swimsuits or shirts for the photos
A playlist. Our boats have Bluetooth speakers
Towels and a change of clothes for dinner afterward
A waterproof phone pouch
6. Make it memorable
Take the bride down the Funship slide first
Bring a floating cooler or pool floats for the sandbar
Plan a toast at anchor and let your captain get the group shot
Book dinner near John's Pass Village after you dock in Madeira Beach
